Matilde Marques

Matilde Marques is currently a PhD student at the MIT Portugal Program since May 2021, following research roles at Instituto Superior Técnico where responsibilities included annotating metagenome-assembled genomes from microbiomes and conducting a master’s thesis on the anticancer activities of natural compounds derived from marine organisms. Prior to this, Matilde gained experience as an intern at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon, working in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and HIV Epidemiology. Matilde holds a PhD in Biotechnology and Biosciences from Instituto Superior Técnico, a Master's degree in Biotechnology from the same institution, and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa.
