Since the end of 2009, Arlin has run a small real estate investment firm (Centura Capital) where they primarily acquire apartment complexes throughout the eastern United States.
Prior to forming Centura Capital, he managed Argosy Real Estate for five years, running a series of private equity commercial real estate investment funds. Previously, he had created and managed a substantial real estate and venture capital portfolio for his family’s holding company, owner of Firstrust Bank, a $3.0 billion commercial bank based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for seven years. For the fourteen years prior, Arlin worked at Firstrust with many areas of responsibility, eventually rising to the position of Chief Operating Officer.
Arlin earned a JD from Boston University School of Law in 1983, a Master in Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1979, and a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard College in 1977.
He maintains his license to practice law in Pennsylvania. He conducts mediation for real estate disputes in the Greater Philadelphia area. Arlin continues to be a member of the board of Firstrust Bank and its holding company, Semperverde, as well as the Lankenau Medical Center Foundation, the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, and currently serves as Chair of City Year Philadelphia.
Since 2016, he has also been engaged in angel investing. In addition to his other activities, he taught a course on Family Business at St. Joseph’s University during the 2015-16 school year.
Most recently, he was appointed to the Delaware County Authority, the agency charged with evaluating all tax-free financing in Delaware County, PA.
Their family started a Foundation many years ago, and they are currently in the process of professionalizing its management.
