Sebastian M. Fica-Contreras

Sebastian M. Fica-Contreras, PhD, currently serves as a Product Development Engineer at KLA since January 2025. Prior to this role, Fica-Contreras worked as a Senior Laser Engineer at Cutera, Inc. from April 2023 to January 2025 and as a Doctoral Researcher at Stanford University between July 2017 and March 2023. At Stanford University, Fica-Contreras also held several teaching assistant positions, covering courses in General Chemistry, Spectroscopy, and Advanced Physical Chemistry from September 2017 to December 2022. Fica-Contreras gained research experience as a Research Assistant in the Choi Group at Middlebury College from January 2014 to June 2017, also fulfilling roles as a teaching assistant and peer tutor in chemistry laboratories. Fica-Contreras holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry specializing in Ultrafast Laser Spectroscopy from Stanford University, along with an MS in Chemistry from the same institution and a BA in Chemistry from Middlebury College. Additionally, Fica-Contreras completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at UWC South East Asia.
