Rodrick Sparks

Rodrick Sparks was elected to the Board of Education in April 2021. He is the first African-American male ever elected to the Lee’s Summit Board of Education. He is an educational equity proponent and believes every child has a right to the resources necessary to maximize their highest potential.

Mr. Sparks attended Kansas City Kansas Community College and Liberty University to pursue a degree in leadership and management. He works as an Accounting Specialist for Hendrick Automotive Group and previously served as Union President for United Steelworkers local 13-07, where he advocated for fair benefits and wages for workers.

Mr. Sparks has a heart for youth and families. He has served as a youth director, youth pastor, and currently serves as church administrator at his local fellowship. He is a board member of Wedgewood Pointe POA and Master Mason at St. James Lodge #59, Kansas Prince Hall Affiliate. He is also a PTA member at Hazel Grove Elementary School.
