Ryan Murdock was elected to the Board of Education in April 2018. He works as the emergency management director for the City of Raymore. He previously worked in public education, teaching in the Jefferson C-123 and Raytown School Districts. He taught world history, American history, speech, and psychology at Jefferson C-123 for four years where he coached softball, basketball, and track and field and sponsored the academic team. In Raytown, he taught American history, world history, psychology, and abnormal psychology at Raytown South High School for 10 years, also serving as an assistant coach for boys and girls soccer and as an assistant coach for debate and forensics.
Within the community, Mr. Murdock has been a board member of Sporting Lee’s Summit, and his son Eli still participates with the U11 Ubuntu Strikers on the competitive side of Sporting LS. He is a board member for the Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation and serves on the organization’s allocations committee and the Taste of Lee’s Summit planning committee. Both Mr. Murdock and his wife are active with Midwest Adaptive Sports where his other son Isaac plays on the Kansas City Kings wheelchair basketball team. He is also involved with Variety KC and Children’s Mercy Hospital. His family attends The Summit Church in Lee’s Summit and is involved in the church community.
Mr. Murdock earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Missouri-Columbia and is a graduate of Raytown South High School.
