Ahmed Shibani is the CTO at Libyan Spider. Prior to this, they worked as an IT coordinator at Chevron Libya Ltd. from January 2009 to November 2012. In this role, they were responsible for local IT support for the company's Libya presence, including staff in HQ as well as remote drilling locations. Ahmed also managed NFS shares for local and remote workers, issued and managed security cards and access keys, maintained security of voice and data networks and equipment, conducted technical risk evaluation of hardware, software, and installed systems and networks, assisted with testing of installed systems to ensure protection strategies are properly implemented and working as intended, organized security awareness training to educate employees regularly on security threats and corporate information technology use policies, managed data backup solution, archiving, and scheduled maintenance, designed and implemented IT infrastructure for remote drilling locations, and served as a liaison with different vendors and sub-contractors. Through their work at Chevron Libya Ltd., Ahmed gained valuable skills in working with a diverse multi-national team, managing tasks remotely, delegating tasks effectively, advanced Windows 2003 Active Directory troubleshooting, VSAT, VPN, and remote-access technologies, and public key infrastructure (PKI) and asymmetric encryption.
