Michael Champion

Michael Champion is a highly experienced professional in the field of reliability engineering and maintenance systems, currently serving as the Reliability CoE Manager at Lion since January 2023. Prior to this role, Michael held various positions at Anglo American, including Maintenance Systems and Reliability Engineering Specialist, from February 2018 to January 2023. Michael's extensive background includes significant roles at BHP Billiton as Lead - Operational Readiness and Principal Analysis & Improvement, along with a secondment as Superintendent - Analysis and Improvement. Michael has also worked as a Principal Reliability Engineer and Advisor - Fixed Plant at CRC Mining, and as a Project Leader at the University of Queensland. Michael began the career journey as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer at WMC Resources. Academic credentials include a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Queensland and a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering from Monash University.
