Joseph Yu

Joseph Yu, PhD MBA, is a seasoned professional in biotechnology and bioprocess development with extensive experience in fermentation and manufacturing. Currently serving as Sr. Director of Fermentation at List Biological Laboratories, Joseph is responsible for the development and cGMP manufacturing of biologics and live bacteria products. Previously, Joseph held various significant roles, including interim Director of MSAT at Adverum Biotechnologies, where leadership of a twelve-member team focused on ocular gene therapy, and Director of Fermentation Operations at Cobalt Biotechnologies, overseeing butanol production. Joseph's career spans over two decades and includes positions at Thermo Fisher Scientific, Valentis, and Bristol Myers Squibb, involving responsibilities in scale-up, process development, and regulatory submissions. Joseph holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Rice University, an MBA from Syracuse University, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry.
