Craig McDonald

Dr. McDonald is an internationally recognized pediatric physical medicine & rehabilitation physician who is board-certified in neuromuscular medicine and pediatric rehabilitation medicine. He currently serves as Medical Director of the spina bifida program at Shriners Children's Northern California and is also a Professor of Clinical Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the University of California Davis School of Medicine. He is also the Director of the NIDRR Rehabilitation Research and Training Center in Neuromuscular Disease at the University of California Davis School of Medicine.

Dr. McDonald’s research has focused on the development of novel therapeutics for neuromuscular diseases, and his work has contributed to the development of precision-based therapeutics for Duchenne muscular dystrophy and the first two approved therapies targeting the dystrophin gene abnormalities that cause Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Dr. McDonald's professional affiliations include the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, the Association of Academic Physiatrists, and the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Dr. McDonald earned an AB in Human Biology from Stanford University, an MS in Rehabilitation Medicine from the University of Washington, and his MD from the University of Washington School of Medicine.
