Deborah Gallego is a dedicated music educator and advocate for social justice, currently serving as a Music Teacher at the Los Angeles Unified School District and as a Fellow at the Social Justice Learning Institute since July 2024. With a commitment to education, Deborah is pursuing a Master of Education through UCLA's Teacher’s Education Program while previously obtaining a Bachelor's degree in African-American/Black Studies with a minor in Education from UCLA. Notably, Deborah was the first Black Drum Major in UCLA history, leading over 270 performers during various high-profile events. Additional leadership roles include serving as the Gender and Sexuality Coordinator for the Afrikan Student Union at UCLA and as a Bunche Research Fellow at the UCLA Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies.
