Joe Lengyel is a board member at Lulius Innovation and a retired United States Air Force Colonel. Joe served as the 28th Chief of the National Guard Bureau from 2011 to 2020. Lengyel began their career in the Air Force in 1982 as a Vice Commander of 1st Air Force (Air Forces Northern). In 1991, they left the Air Force to become an airline pilot for Delta Air Lines. Joe returned to the Air Force in 2011 as the Chief of the National Guard Bureau. During their tenure, they led the transformation of the National Guard Bureau towards efficiency, by streamlining and consolidating the organization. In spring and early summer of 2020, we had over 125K mobilized service member for COVID, Civil unrest activities and military mobilizations on every continent around the world.
Joe Lengyel has a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of North Texas and a Master of Business Administration - MBA from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Joe also has certification from the Federal Aviation Administration in Airline Transport Pilot.
