Matthew Barela

Matthew Barela currently serves as Post-Production Manager and Retouching Lead at MAKEUP BY MARIO since May 2023. As the Founder and Retouching Director of StudioMB, a specialized retouching studio in New York City, Matthew has been instrumental in providing high-quality retouching services to fashion, beauty, advertising, and fine art clients since October 2012. Previous experience includes roles as Retouching Director at Two Three Two Artists & Advertising from January 2017 to January 2020, and Lead Retoucher and Retouching Director at Michael Thompson Inc. from September 2008 to January 2012. Matthew has also worked as a Senior Retoucher at 4th Floor New York Retouching and Industrial Color, and began a career as a freelance retoucher from January 2000 to 2013. Matthew holds a Bachelor's of Fine Art in Photography from New York University, completed in May 2003.
