Alexandra Worden is a distinguished scientist and educator currently serving as a Senior Scientist at the Marine Biological Laboratory and a Professor in the Department of Geophysical Science at the University of Chicago, both since 2023. Alexandra holds the position of Max Planck Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology and has an extensive academic career at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where Alexandra has progressed through various faculty roles since 2007. Previously, Alexandra was a Professor and Unit Head at the University of Kiel & GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research from 2019 to 2023, and held key positions at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute and the University of Miami among others. Alexandra earned a Ph.D. in Ecology and Marine Sciences from The University of Georgia and a B.A. from Wellesley College and MIT in Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences.
