Richard Francis, Jr. serves as Senior Advisor to Martin Ventures. He is responsible for evaluating investment opportunities and consulting with the investment committee.

Richard previously served as Chairman of Nashville, Tennessee-based Symbion, Inc. from March 2002-June 2014 and as CEO and a Director of the company since its inception in 1999-June 2014. Under his leadership, Symbion became a publicly held company and a chain of over 75 outpatient surgery centers and surgical hospitals in 27 states.

Prior to his work with Symbion, Mr. Francis worked as the President and CEO of UniPhy, which operates Multispecialty Clinics, Independent Practice Associations, and other outpatient services. Mr. Francis' other leadership experience includes a stint as Senior Vice President of Development and Regional Vice President for HealthTrust. In this capacity, he oversaw operations of 11 hospitals in five states.

Mr. Francis also served as Founder and Chairman of the ASC Coalition, a trade group representing ambulatory surgery centers throughout the country. The coalition established a legislative and government affairs agenda for the National ASC Association and the development of a policy making process for legislation and regulatory bodies.
