Dwaina Sookhoo

Master Teacher Fellow at Math for America

Dwaina Sookhoo is an accomplished mathematics educator with extensive experience in secondary education and leadership roles. Currently serving as a High School Mathematics Teacher at NYC Lab High School for Collaborative Studies since September 2021, Dwaina has also held prominent positions such as Master Teacher Fellow and Early Career Fellow with Math for America since June 2015, and a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics since July 2014. Dwaina has contributed to the Teaching Experiences for Undergraduates program as a Mentor Teacher and served on the board of the Knowles Teacher Initiative from May 2021 to May 2024. Previous teaching roles include high school mathematics positions at the Academy for Young Writers and East-West School of International Studies. Dwaina's educational background includes a Doctor of Education in Instructional Leadership from Hunter College, a Master's in Mathematics Teacher Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics Secondary Education from Queens College.
