Gail Fernandez graduated from UCI with a BA in psychology and a BS in psychology. She went on to complete medical school, a general psychiatry residency, and a child and adolescent fellowship at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She is board certified in both General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. After training, she returned to UCI in 1996 where she became the program and division director for child and adolescent psychiatry. In 2013, she left UCI and moved to California Institution for Women where she is now the Chief Psychiatrist of Outpatient Services.
