Daphne W. Trotter

Daphne Trotter is a partner at the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP, based in the Washington, D.C. office, where she is focused on environmental issues.

She has represented clients in complex environmental litigation involving state and federal regulators, as well as in actions between private parties. Her work has involved environmental permitting, environmental cleanup, environmental insurance and personal injury claims. She has also counseled clients on environmental issues and associated risks in corporate, real estate and lending transactions. In addition, she has overseen litigation involving complex scientific and medical issues for a Fortune 100 company. She received her bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and her law degree from American University-Washington College of Law. Prior to law school, she worked for the National Science Teachers Association on NASA programs involving students and teachers. She is also a MDI Biological Laboratory alumna, having worked with Dr. Thomas H. Maren, M.D., as a high school student studying limb regeneration. Ms. Trotter is a member of the District of Columbia Bar; the American Bar Association; DRI, an organization of defense attorneys; and the National Association of Women Lawyers. Ms. Trotter currently serves as co-chair of the MDIBL Governance Committee. She resides in Washington, D.C. and Bar Harbor, Maine.
