Sigmar Gabriel is an experienced political leader at the local, federal and international level.
Mr. Gabriel has held several leading posts in the German government, most recently as Minister for Foreign Affairs and Vice-Chancellor of Germany. Prior to that he was Germany’s Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy and Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. He is one of the longest serving leaders of the Social Democratic Party and has broad experience as a board member, including the Bonner Akademie für Forschung und Lehre and the Max Planck Institute of Experimental Medicine. He is a John F. Kennedy Memorial Policy Fellow at Harvard’s Center for European Studies.
