John M. Phelan

Dr. Phelan also serves as the Director of St. Mary’s Hospital Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.

Dr. Phelan has served in leadership roles at Dean for many years, including the Chairman of Board of Directors. His current leadership interest is Strategic Development and Innovation to Accommodate Disruptive Change in Healthcare Delivery.

He is currently a Member of Dean Health System’s Finance Committee, Insurance Board Chair, Member of the Finance and Audit Committees, and Chair of Executive Evaluation & Compensation.

Prior to coming to Dean, Dr. Phelan served as the Director, Section of Cardiology, at Rush North Shore Medical Center in Skokie, IL. He also served as the Director of Interventional Cardiology at Rush and as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Rush Medical College in Chicago.

Dr. Phelan has authored or co-authored a number of publications in cardiology and has been a principal investigator or co-investigator in clinical research trials.

He received his MD from the University of Rochester and was an Angioplasty Fellow and Cardiology Fellow at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center.
