Herman Williams is currently an advisor at MediGuru. Prior to this, they served as managing director and chief physician executive at BDO USA, LLP from February 2019 to July 2022. Herman was recruited to oversee the development and growth of the Nashville Healthcare Advisory Practice.
Previously, Herman Williams served as corporate vice president of medical affairs at Vanguard Health Systems from February 2009 to October 2013. In this role, they were promoted from a regional system CMO role to serve as a senior executive to the company chief medical officer. Herman was responsible for overseeing the implementation of “Physician Leadership Councils (PLCs)” at all 25 Vanguard facilities.
During their time at Vanguard Health Systems, Williams improved credentialing and privileging processes; established core privileging principles, policies and manuals. Herman also developed strategies to address medical staff Joint Commission preparation and organized responses to medical staff compliance issues. In addition, they collaborated on the deployment of the clinical documentation improvement program in response to the 2008 change in the Medical Staff DRG update; implemented new strategies to address appropriate patient classification.
Herman Williams has an MPH from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, an MBA from University of Washington - Michael G. Foster School of Business, and post-graduate studies in orthopedic surgery from University of Washington. Herman also has an MD from Boston University School of Medicine and a BA in psychology from Amherst College. Herman Williams is certified by the International Coach Federation as a Profession Certified Coach and is also certified as a Virtual Presenter by eSpeakers.
