Kanhu Charan Pattnayak

Kanhu Charan Pattnayak is a highly experienced scientist currently serving as a Senior Scientist at the Met Office since November 2024. Previously, Kanhu worked as a Senior Climate Finance Scientist at the University of Leeds, where the focus was on climate risk analysis and financial losses from climate extremes. Kanhu has extensive experience in leading research projects, including a significant role at the National Environment Agency in Singapore, managing teams to develop climate impact models across various sectors. Academic contributions include a Visiting Scientist role and Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Leeds, focusing on food security under climate change in Africa and hydrological studies in the Amazon. Kanhu’s early career involved impactful research at the National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting. Educational achievements include a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and ongoing Executive MBA studies at Cambridge Judge Business School.
