Anson Mount is an actor, producer and writer. He is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Captain Christopher Pike in Star Trek: Discovery and the upcoming Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Previous to this he played the lead character Cullen Bohannon in AMC's Hell on Wheels, for which he also served as producer. He has appeared in such films as City By the Sea, Non-Stop, Safe, Tully, Straw Dogs, Mr. Right, and Cook County, which he also produced, as well as the upcoming independent film The Virtuoso opposite Sir Anthony Hopkins, which likewise he also produced.
In addition to acting, Mount also produces and hosts The Well Podcast with longtime collaborator Branan Edgens, in which the two focus on stories of creativity and interviews with people who have forced themselves to think outside the box (Dr. Doug Vakoch happens to be one of their favorite guests so far). He is also a contributing writer for Cowboys & Indians Magazine. Mount graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree from Sewanee: The University of the South and received his Masters degree from Columbia University. He lives in Connecticut with his wife Darah, three dogs, six chickens, and two bee hives.
