Paul Coussens is a seasoned academic and researcher currently serving as a Professor and Director of the Molecular Pathogenesis Laboratory at Michigan State University since 1987. Coussens' research primarily focuses on the molecular pathogenesis of diseases affecting livestock and poultry, including bovine paratuberculosis, Brucella abortus, and various influenza strains. Prior roles at Michigan State University include Associate Professor and Assistant Professor, concentrating on Mycobacterium species and Marek's disease herpesvirus, respectively. Additionally, Coussens was Chief Technology Officer at Origen, Inc. from 1995 to 1999, where supervision of research activities targeted molecular diagnostics and recombinant vaccines.
