Balaji Iyer

Balaji Iyer is a Principal Engineering Manager at Microsoft, a position held since January 2022, leading a globally distributed team of over 100 members across five time zones. Previously, Balaji served as Director of Engineering at Rackspace Technology from June 2010 to December 2021, overseeing program management, engineering execution, and the development of technical strategies while maintaining P&L responsibilities. Balaji is experienced in building and managing Platform Engineering products, including IAM, CMS, Message Bus, Billing, and API Gateway. Educational qualifications include a Credential of Readiness in Business Analytics, Economics, and Finance from Harvard Business School Online in 2016, and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, completed in 2004.
