Sean Mathews

Sean Mathews is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience reporting on business, security, and politics across the Middle East, North Africa, and Southern Europe. Currently serving as a journalist at Middle East Eye since August 2021, Sean also co-founded Levendeia, a multimedia platform focusing on arts, culture, and design in the Eastern Mediterranean. Previous roles include contributing writer for The Economist and Al-Monitor, as well as a contributing reporter for Al Jazeera Media Institute. Sean's journalism career began as a news reporter for Jordan Times and an intern at ACHRS, where skills in communications and research were developed. Sean earned a Bachelor's degree from Canisius University, following a high school diploma from Canisius High School.
