Gareth Reynolds has extensive experience in security and training roles within New Zealand's governmental and law enforcement sectors. Currently serving as a Senior Advisor for Health Safety and Security at the Ministry of Justice since May 2019, Gareth is responsible for developing and delivering training in security, risk assessment, and officer safety. Prior to this, Gareth has been a Defensive Tactics Trainer and Tactical Options Team Leader at NZ Police since November 2002, focusing on tactical training for recruits. A brief tenure as a Security Advisor at the Ministry of Justice in early 2018 involved the development of Officer Safety Training for court security personnel. Earlier career experience includes serving as a Driver in the Royal New Zealand Air Force from 1994 to 1999. Education was completed at New Plymouth Boys' High School from 1986 to 1989.
