On March 23, 1995, Glen Taylor closed the deal that made him majority owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves. He added the title of NBA owner to a list that already included international businessman, state senator, entrepreneur, philanthropist and Executive of the Year.
Glen Taylor is founder and chairman of Mankato, Minn.-based Taylor Corporation, one of the nation’s largest privately-held companies. He grew this multinational conglomerate from a small print shop, Carlson Wedding Service, where he worked in college. Taylor purchased the firm in 1975, assembled a passionate leadership team and dramatically expanded the firm’s capabilities through more than 80 acquisitions and start-ups. After more than 40 years of his leadership, Taylor Corporation has become a North American leader in the graphic arts industry, but its stated mission remains “creating opportunity and security for our employees.”
Committed to improving the civic and business interests of Minnesota, Taylor has served as president of the YMCA, director of the Mankato Chamber of Commerce, director of the Greater Minnesota Corporation and the Minnesota Business Partnership, and served on the Minnesota State University Foundation Board of Directors.
