Michael Finkelstein serves as the Chief of Police for East Lyme Police Department, overseeing a community of 19,000 residents since May 2017. In addition to this role, Finkelstein is an Adjunct Professor teaching Forensic Science at Mitchell College and Three Rivers Community College. Finkelstein has acted as the Emergency Management Director for the Town of East Lyme and has served as a Fire Investigator for both the Office of the East Lyme Fire Marshal and the Ledyard Fire Marshals Office. Previously, Finkelstein held the position of Mayor of Ledyard, where responsibilities included oversight of town operations and public safety. A retired Lieutenant from the Town of Ledyard, Finkelstein holds a Master’s of Science in Administration of Justice & Homeland Security from Salve Regina University and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Eastern Connecticut State University, as well as an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Three Rivers Community College.
