Simon Ackerman

Simon Ackerman is a seasoned professional in forestry and sustainability with extensive experience in various roles within the industry. Currently serving as the Sustainability Manager at Merensky Timber since January 2023, Simon previously held positions at the University of Stellenbosch as a Forest Operations Research specialist and as a Research Scientist in Forest Operations at the Institute for Commercial Forestry Research. Simon's career also includes leadership roles, such as FESA Researcher and Programme Coordinator, and hands-on experience in silviculture and harvesting at MTO Forestry and Sappi. An academic background solidified by a PhD in Forestry, alongside an MSc and BSc from Stellenbosch University, underpins Simon's research and operational expertise.
