Theresa Reilly

Theresa M. Reilly serves as Secretary for the Montgomery County Community College Board of Trustees and has been a Board member since 2016. She has dedicated her career to providing value and service to individuals and families through the healthcare industry, culminating in her position as Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Office at Abington Jefferson Health. She retired in 2018 after a 43-year career in healthcare and nursing.

In her role on the Board, Theresa’s leadership skills give her a unique ability to capture a group’s thoughts and ideas and direct it toward unified goals and meaningful next steps. Her experience in the healthcare space gives her a unique perspective on ensuring the College best positions its students for success in that fast-growing industry and in determining the healthcare needs of its community. It’s that commitment to student success and the broader community that ignites her passion for the College and its mission. She appreciates the commitment shared by the leadership and faculty at the College and credits the Board for its focus on growth and accomplishing ambitious goals.

Theresa discovered a love for lifelong learning when she went back to college to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Gwynedd Mercy College while working as a nurse. This combination of professional and learning experiences gave her a newfound confidence and a passion for reading and exploration. She went on to earn her Master’s in Nursing from Villanova University as well as a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Thomas Jefferson University. She also serves as a Board Member for the Gift of Life Medical Advisory Board. In her free time, she relishes the opportunity to get outdoors and experience nature through jogging, hiking, biking and more.

Her advice to students is stay focused on the ultimate value of education. “Enjoy the experience. There will always be stressors and barriers. It may be difficult at times. Look for the breaks in the tension and absorb those small breakthroughs that education offers. Those small pieces of personal wisdom become a foundation for life.”
