Matthew Cosgrave

Matthew is a Pilot Plant Technician at Mori, developing scaled up processes for production of Mori Silk.

Prior to working at Mori, Matthew completed a B.Sc. in Plant and Agri Biosciences at the University of Galway in Ireland. He focused on the implementation of biotechnologies that improve sustainability and resilience in food and agriculture. His research involved the characterization of macro algae for commercial application in the treatment of wastewater.

Matthew has over 8 years of experience as a chef, during which time he developed an interest in solving the urgent challenges they need to meet in the face of climate change and biodiversity loss. He is excited to work in preventing food waste as he believes it can lead to more equitable and environmentally friendly food systems.
