Carlos Massera is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in autonomous systems and software development. Currently serving as Director of Engineering at Motional, Carlos leads the Planning, Control, and Remote Assistance team and has previously held roles including Senior Principal Software Engineer and Director of Engineering for Localization, Mapping, and Calibration. Prior experience includes engineering management and software engineering positions at Lyft, specializing in Level 5 autonomous vehicle algorithms, and senior roles at Apple in the Special Projects Group. An entrepreneur and cofounder of Neodyn, Carlos has also contributed to embedded and web software development in various capacities. Carlos holds a PhD in Computer Science from Universidade de São Paulo and has engaged in autonomous vehicle research at The Ohio State University.
