Guillermo Contreras Mares

Guillermo Contreras Mares is a seasoned metallurgist with extensive experience in various roles within the mining and metallurgical industries. Currently serving as a Senior Metallurgist at MP Materials since October 2023, Guillermo has previously held positions including Senior Process Engineer at Befesa Zinc Metal, SXEW Operations Superintendent/Metallurgist at Origin Mining Company, and LSXEW Operations Supervisor and Metallurgist at ASARCO. Guillermo's expertise encompasses process control, production planning, and metallurgical engineering across multiple processes such as leaching, solvent extraction, and flotation. With a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management and Operations from Universidad Anáhuac and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí, Guillermo balances technical prowess with managerial skills.
