April M. Melvin

April M. Melvin is a seasoned professional in ecosystem ecology and biogeochemistry with a diverse background in climate change research and policy. Currently serving as a Senior Program Officer at The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine since October 2016, April has also held roles as Program Officer and Associate Program Officer. Previous experience includes serving as a Science & Technology Policy Fellow at AAAS, where April coordinated a study on climate change impacts in Alaska, and as a Post Doctoral Associate at the University of Florida, focusing on climate change research and its effects on subarctic ecosystems. Academic achievements include a Ph.D. from Cornell University in Ecosystem Ecology and Biogeochemistry and leadership roles in various environmental programs.
