Roya Bauman

Roya Bauman comes to NCYL with a varied background. The child of an immigrant from Iran and a descendant of Eastern European Jewish immigrants, Bauman lived in many places during her youth as a military “brat.” After studying psychology and music at University of the Pacific (Stockton, CA), she made it through a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from The George Washington University (Washington, DC).

Bauman’s work life has taken her from management consulting firms to a non-profit specializing in organizational innovation and diversity (Idea Connection Systems), a nursery school, a charitable trust, a civic education non-profit (Street Law), and a non-profit focusing on the power of developing deep cross-racial friendships (National Center for Race Amity).

She has developed skills in strategic planning, HR, organizational development, communications, event planning, and raising children (she has two amazing young adult children). Pre-pandemic, she spent her spare hours singing professionally and as a volunteer. She is passionate about racial justice and equity and believes in the inherent oneness of humanity.
