Summer Intern (hs-sip), National Institutes Of Aging at National Institutes of Health

Sumedha Shastry is a dedicated and accomplished undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology at UCLA. Currently serving as a Summer Intern at the National Institutes of Health, specifically within the National Institutes of Aging, Sumedha is engaged in research on SASP suppression using human trophoblast stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles. Previous experience includes internships at the University of Maryland School of Nursing, analyzing glucose data related to chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, and at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, focusing on gene knockout in lung cancer research. Sumedha co-founded Colors for Coats Inc., leading initiatives on public health issues and raising funds to support healthcare for the homeless. Additional roles include serving as Secretary and Community Outreach Coordinator for The HeartWise Project, enhancing outreach to senior centers. Sumedha's diverse experiences reflect a strong commitment to scientific inquiry and community service.
