Alejandra Mejia Cunningham

Alejandra Mejia Cunningham is a seasoned professional in energy policy and regulation, currently serving as Senior Manager of State Buildings Policy at the Natural Resources Defense Council since September 2019. With extensive experience in the electric industry, Alejandra has also worked as Principal at Transcendent Energy since February 2017, providing regulatory and policy expertise. Previous roles include Senior Regulatory and Markets Analyst at Smart Wires Inc. and Senior Policy Analyst at the California Technical Forum. An Energy Industry Analyst at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Alejandra conducted comprehensive analyses of Demand Response programs. Additionally, as Policy Advisor to Chairman Flores at the Illinois Commerce Commission, Alejandra offered strategic advice on utility regulations and clean energy initiatives. Early career experience includes serving as Director of Communications for the City of Chicago's 1st Ward.
