Dr. Christine Hunter brings over 35 years of federal health program experience to her current role serving the health insurance needs of military, veterans, and seniors as a board director at WPS Health Solutions. Dr. Hunter also co-chairs the National Committee for Quality Assurance Committee on Performance Measurement, working to improve health outcomes for all Americans, and serves on the board of the Falcons Landing military retirement community. After retiring from active duty, Dr. Hunter served as Chief Medical Officer for the Federal Employees Health Benefit program from 2011–2018, overseeing health care quality for 8.2 million employees, retirees, and families. On active duty, RADM Hunter served as Deputy Director of TRICARE Management Activity from 2009–2011, coordinating health care for 9.6 million military beneficiaries and managing a $22B portfolio. Other notable military assignments included tours as the Commander, Naval Medical Center San Diego; US Pacific Fleet Surgeon; Chief of Staff, Navy bureau of Medicine and Surgery; and Commanding Officer, Naval Hospital Bremerton.
Her awards include: Presidential Rank Award, Master and Laureate of the American College of Physicians, OPM Director’s Award, Boston University Humanitarian Award, and numerous military awards.
Christine holds a B.A. and M.D. from Boston University, where she is recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus.
