Maurice de Kleijn

Senior Research Software Engineer at Netherlands eScience Center

Maurice De Kleijn is a Senior Research Software Engineer at the Netherlands eScience Center since January 2023, and has been a Researcher and University Teacher at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam's Spatial Information Laboratory (SPINlab) since April 2010. Previously, Maurice held the position of Geo Information Science Docent at Aeres University of Applied Science Almere from June 2022 to January 2023, and served as an Ambassador at Koninklijk Nederlands Instituut Rome between 2012 and December 2015. Additional research experience includes a role at the Centre for Global Heritage and Development from April to October 2015, as well as working as a GIS specialist/Archaeologist at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and BAAC bv. Maurice's earlier career includes roles at IKEA and AFC Ajax, along with experience as a Junior Electro Technician at Signs 4U BV. Maurice holds a University Teaching Qualification from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and dual degrees in Mediterranean Archaeology (MA) and Archaeology and Prehistory (BA) from the same institution, along with foundational education from CLV.
