Puk Nuijten is currently a PhD student at Nederlands Herseninstituut, where the focus is on developing a neural interface to restore rudimentary vision in the blind through microstimulation. Prior to this role, Puk served as a research assistant within the Vision and Cognition research group, contributing to the design of a microstimulation device for generating artificial visual percepts. Experience includes internships at Western University and Amsterdam UMC, focusing on the role of the superior colliculus and a meta-study on treatment outcomes for carpal tunnel syndrome, respectively. Additional roles involved research on anticipatory postural adjustments in Parkinson's disease, visual feature processing in rodents, and virtual reality training for working memory in early-stage dementia. Education includes a Master of Science in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from the University of Amsterdam and an honors degree in Cognitive Science, Biomedical Science, and Psychology from University College Roosevelt.
