John Edge

John Edge has spent over 20 years at the vanguard of innovation in financial markets, building, operating and advising companies that seek to disrupt the status quo. He is currently focused on the development of Web 3.0 enabled markets and the application of confidential compute in data asset finance. Previously, Mr. Edge was a FinTech entrepreneur, having co-founded Red Kite Financial Markets, a data analytics company providing regulatory compliance solutions to capital markets (sold to NICE Systems). Prior to Red Kite, he led electronic trading innovation at the capital markets groups of investment banks, including J.P. Morgan, Lehman Brothers and UBS. Mr. Edge has current academic appointments as a Connection Science Fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and as a visiting Fellow at Oxford University. He is the co-founder of ID2020, a global public-private alliance championing individuals’ rights to privacy and access to decentralized technologies, and Chairman Emeritus of the Whitechapel Think Tank, a collaborative forum at the forefront of advancing global innovation in distributed ledger technologies. Mr. Edge holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Leeds.
