Nicholas DeNichilo is president and CEO of Mott MacDonald, North America, an engineering, management and development consultancy. He was instrumental in Hatch Mott MacDonald obtaining awards for high profile projects, including Calgary West Light Rail Transit Line, Sea-to-Sky Highway Improvement, and the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. The Hatch Mott MacDonald joint venture was separated into two distinct businesses in 2015. As a practicing engineer specializing in water and wastewater, Mr. DeNichilo served as project manager for several projects in New Jersey. An industry expert, he has authored and presented technical papers and hosted technical discussions at various industry events. He is a recipient of the following awards from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE): John I. Parcel-Leif J. Sverdrup Civil Engineering Management Award in 2015, Outstanding Projects and Leaders Award (OPAL) in 2014, and Engineer of the Year Award in 1999. Other awards received include the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award from NJIT in 2005, the Newark College of Engineering Outstanding Alumnus Award in 2020, and the George Warren Fuller Award from the New Jersey Section of the American Water Works Association in 2003. He was elected an honorary diplomate, Water Resources Engineer (Hon.D.WRE) in 2020. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Innovation Institute. Mr. DeNichilo received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering in 1973 and M.S. degree in Civil Engineering in 1978 from NJIT.
