Chris Sutton

Chris joined the board as a co-optee in 2019 and following the AGM and his recent success at the board member recruitment

campaign will become a board member. During Chris’ time as a co-optee he was a member of the audit & risk committee and following the AGM will step down from the audit & risk committee and be appointed vice chair of the remuneration committee.

Chris believes the association has an important role to play in terms of both the provision of housing in Newport and the regeneration of parts of the city and is pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of the association. Chris’ connections with Newport go back to 1986 when he started as a junior surveyor with a very well regarded surveying firm called Powell Tuck & Partners and knew Newport like the back of his hand and has always had a soft spot for it.

Chris is a chartered surveyor and brings direct experience in the property, investment and development markets to the association, along with softer skills such as business experience through his time with CBI Wales and links to Higher Education through his role as governor of the University of South Wales, which has a campus in Newport
