Jimmy Kan is the current director at Niron Magnetics. Jimmy has previously worked as a senior hardware engineer and researcher at Qualcomm from January 2013 to December 2017. There, they were in charge of developing energy efficient, embedded non-volatile memory (eNVM) technologies, especially STT-MRAM for low-power MCU, IoT devices, and sensors. This included defining bitcell specifications, architectures, process integration, and layout with leading semiconductor foundries, as well as developing accelerated stress tests and models for MRAM TDDB. Jimmy also has experience in materials development, designing film stacks for optimal integration into CMOS BEOL, and optimizing PVD & Etch processes for advanced devices. Most recently, they were with Aspinity, Inc. as their Director of Engineering before taking their current position.
Jimmy Kan received their Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from UC San Diego. Jimmy also holds a B.S. and an M.S. in Condensed Matter and Materials Physics from UC San Diego.
