Ming Guo

Dr. Ming Guo is the Laurie & Stephen C. Gordon Chair in Neurosciences, UCLA Professor of Neurology, Molecular and Medical Pharmacology. Dr. Guo is a board-certified neurologist, evaluating internationally referred patients with neurological disorders, with an emphasis on neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. She also leads a basic and translational research laboratory at UCLA with a major focus on neurodegenerative diseases and neural regeneration and is the Director of a campus-wide, cross-disciplinary, National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded Aging Center at UCLA.

Dr. Guo has received many prestigious awards for her ground-breaking research in neurology including the McKnight Neuroscience Foundation Brain Disorder Award, the Klingenstein-Simons Foundation Fellow in Neuroscience, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Fellowship, Robert H. Ebert Clinical Scholar Award, the American Neurological Association (ANA) Derek Denny Brown Neurological Scholar Award, Ellison Medical Foundation Senior Scholar Award on Aging, National Institutes of Health (NIH) Exceptional Unconventional Research Enabling Knowledge Acceleration (EUREKA) award.

Dr. Guo is an elected member of the prestigious Association of American Physicians (AAP). She is a board member of the McKnight Neuroscience Foundation and Chair of their selection committee for Neurobiology of Brain Disorders Award. She also serves on the Scientific Advisory Committee for A.P. Giannini Foundation, and the Editorial Board of Aging Cell and Current Opinion in Neurobiology. She serves as a Board of Director of ANA professional society of academic neurologists and neuroscientists and has served as Chair of the Board of Scientific Counselors at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS).
