Klaus Kompass

TKlaus has over 35 years experience and broad expertise in the development and application of automotive safety features and functions. Most recently he was BMW’s Vice President of Vehicle Safety. Previously, Klaus was in charge of all BMW’s Advanced Driver Assistance System development activities. He was instrumental in developing world-first head protection side airbag systems at BMW and as Technical director at Autoliv, the global leader in airbags, seatbelts, and safety electronics. Klaus started his career as crash test engineer in the BMW R&D center in Munich and was later responsible for advanced safety engineering. He holds a Diploma in Safety from Wuppertal University in Germany

Klaus continues to work on safety projects as a freelancer and acts as Professor at the Technical Universities of Berlin and Dresden. In his free time he is a passionate mechanic on his vintage cars and motorcycles, and enjoys riding bicycles and motorcycles.
