David Chao

David Chao is Co-Founder and General Partner at DCM Ventures. At DCM, Mr. Chao guides portfolio companies to formulate corporate and product marketing strategies, develop strong management teams and implement domestic and international partnerships. He is the Chairman of 51job and a Board member of The Renren Network in Japan. Mr. Chao is responsible for many successful DCM investments including Recourse Technologies (Symantec), Sling Media (EchoStar/Dish Networks) and UCloud, among others. Prior to DCM Ventures, he was a Co-Founder and acting CFO/CTO of Japan Communications Inc., a management consultant at McKinsey & Company in San Francisco, and worked in marketing and product management at Apple Computer. Mr. Chao holds a B.A. in Economics and East Asian Studies from Brown University and an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.
