Burl Finkelstein

Burl Finkelstein is an experienced professional with a robust background in law and engineering. Currently serving as Chairperson for the NSF Std 2 Task group since May 2018 and a member of the Technical Committee on Pyrotechnics at NFPA since July 2012, Burl also has longstanding involvement with Tripoli Rocketry, contributing since 2000. With a significant tenure at NSF International as chairman of the Std 2 task group and a former crew leader at Pyrotecnico until December 2022, Burl has extensive experience in professional fireworks displays and special effects. As Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Kason Industries Inc from April 1978 until December 2022, responsibilities included policy setting and oversight of a specialized manufacturer for food service equipment, alongside active participation in various trade and advocacy organizations such as CPA and the Georgia Association of Manufacturers. Burl holds a JD in Law from John Marshall Law School and degrees in Metallurgy and Mechanical Engineering from Stony Brook University.
