Customs & Investigative Subject Matter Expert at Nu Borders

Michael Ronayne has over twenty years of federal law enforcement experience investigating transnational criminal organizations. Prior to coming on board as Customs/Investigative Subject Matter Expert, Mike was the Assistant Special Agent in Charge for the Global Trade Investigations Division of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Boston. Mike was assigned to HSI Headquarters as the Unit Chief of the Counter Proliferation Investigations Unit in Vienna, VA.

In this position, he was responsible for oversight of the program at the national level, to include strategic planning, policy implementation and the execution of operational initiative. Prior to his assignment at HSI Headquarters, Mike was a group supervisor at HSI Philadelphia for almost six years and was responsible for investigating a broad range of violations pertaining to the illegal export of military equipment and dual use technology. Mike’s investigative efforts have been featured in several media publications, including the Philadelphia Inquirer and the books, Operation Shakespeare: The True Story of an Elite International Sting by John Shiffman and Crack99: The Takedown of a $100 Million Chinese Software Pirate by David Locke Hall. Mike has also appeared on the CNN Original Series, Declassified. Mike started his career as a special agent in Philadelphia with the United States Customs Service and graduated from Bridgewater State College with a bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication.
