Vivek Thapliyal

Vivek Thapliyal is a seasoned metallurgist with extensive experience in the steel industry. Currently serving as Plant Metallurgist at Nucor Yamato Steel since March 2018, Vivek has also held the position of Metallurgist at Nucor Corporation since February 2015. Prior roles include Graduate Research Associate at Missouri S&T, where Vivek taught multiple metallurgy courses and contributed to significant research projects during the PhD candidacy in Metallurgical Engineering. Notable research areas include inclusion engineering in Si De-oxidized steel and interactions between steel and refractories. Vivek's earlier roles include Senior Project Associate at IIT Kanpur and Analyst at marketRx, where involvement spanned automation projects and sales force effectiveness analytics respectively. Educational qualifications include a PhD from Missouri University of Science and Technology and a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
